    FAQ

    Parking available?
Yes! There is free and paid parking in front of our clinic, as well as paid underground parking by Indigo in the Metropolitan building accessible from 13th St SW immediately next to our location.

Why do you require a credit card number on file in order to book in?
We require a credit card number in order to adhere to D&M’s “late cancellation” and “no show” policies. Your card on file will only be charged in case you do not show up for your treatment or if you cancel the appointment with less than 24 hours notice. These measures were implemented due to an increased number of no shows in recent months.
What is the difference between microblading and powder/ombre brows?
Microblading is done with a manual tool and provides the effect of hair strokes while powder/ombre brows create a more filled effect on your brows. Microblading tends to suit people with dry to normal skin and powder brows suit any skin type.

How long is the healing process for permanent makeup?
Generally, brows and eyeliner procedures heal between 7-10 days. Lip blush procedures heal within 4-7 days. You can expect light scabbing and dryness on the areas treated.

What do I need to know about aftercare?
You will be provided with an aftercare kit and instructions specific to your treatment at the end of your first appointment. Generally, you will need to apply the aftercare cream given to you multiple times each day. You will need to avoid saunas, steam rooms, pools and hot tubs until the area is fully healed.

    Is permanent makeup painful?
A standard part of every permanent makeup procedure includes multiple numbing cream applications before and during the procedure. Most people report mild to no discomfort but this will vary from person to person as pain tolerance differs between individuals.

Will I bleed while the procedure takes place?
Most people do not bleed during a permanent makeup procedure. This being said, if you are currently taking blood thinners, there is a higher chance of bleeding.
Will a chemical peel hurt or burn?
During the first treatment, our skin care specialist will assess your skin and suggest the most appropriate type of peel specific to your needs. The level of discomfort depends on the acid concentration the peel carries. If this is your first peel ever, it is likely the lightest peel will be applied to test your skin’s reaction. You can expect a 0-2 level discomfort out of 10 (10 being the worst pain you ever felt).

What is the downtime after a chemical peel?
This depends on the concentration used and your skin’s natural ability to heal. Down time could vary from 1 hour to up to 5 days. The higher the concentration used, generally, the longer the downtime.

    Does microneedling hurt?
Microneedling is generally a relaxing treatment due to the numbing cream applied prior to starting the procedure. Most people report a 0-1 pain level out of 10 (10 being the worst pain you ever felt)

What is the downtime for microneedling?
Your skin will be red or pink (similar to a sunburn) immediately after the procedure is done. The next day or 2 your skin’s colour will start to return to normal, though some redness may remain. After the first 2 days, some skin dryness may occur. Feel free to use your favourite moisturizer.

Will dermaplaning hurt? Is there any downtime?
No, dermaplaning is a relaxing procedure with immediate results, no pain or downtime.

What can I expect from a customized facial treatment?
Though most facial procedures follow a standard process of cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, massage and mask, each step will be customized to your skin type and individual needs. Our skin care specialist will design a treatment plan that fits your skin care goals. Facials can include cupping and/or a high frequency treatment.
What is our focus with massage therapy?
Our aim is always pain relief and restoration of a more natural range of motion for any given area of the body. We offer a targeted approach to fit each person’s individual needs and goals.

Will I be in pain after the treatment?
It is possible that in order to accurately assess and treat a certain condition the therapist may recreate the pain you came in to address. Some of the techniques employed may be intense in their nature. Your therapist will continually ask if the pressure is ok or if you need to adjust anything during the massage. After the treatment, you may experience some soreness or discomfort. This is generally normal. Such symptoms usually disappear after 1-2 days. If pain persists after 2 days, please let us know. We will be happy to assist you.

How often should I get a massage?
For general wellness and overall maintenance, we recommend having a 60 minute massage every 1 to 2 months. If you need help recovering from an injury or with pain management from chronic conditions, your therapist will create a personalized treatment plan which targets your individual needs. As such, your therapist will let you know how often you should come in for treatment during your initial assessment and treatment

Do you have direct billing for massage?
Yes! We provide direct billing for most extended health benefits providers. In case your insurer is not on our list, we always provide you a copy of your invoice which can be used to claim reimbursement from your end.
